So my birthday's coming up this Sunday. I still haven't decided if I'm gonna hit the club or keep it intimate just with my friends, etc. Who knows. Christmas break from work this Thursday though, woo hoo!

I've been out for 7 years.

I've been out of the closet for 7 years. It's been hard. Sometimes I wish I could go back in. Being born to homophobic parents was not my choice. There is freedom in knowing the truth though. There is freedom in knowing where you stand with those whom you love. Going from being their pride and joy to the one they picket against was not easy. Their rejection was the least of their sins but undoubtedly the most painful. But at this 7 year benchmark I let go of that pain. My heart is free to love whomever it chooses, even them.

laundry and grocery shopping in the rain. yeah, it's a blah day for me. but going through old high school pics made me feel better...almost. maybe i'll post one ;)

It just so happens...

So as a strange twist of flip flopping fate I was re-invited to perform at Newark-Essex Pride at the VERY LAST MINUTE. Back up singers couldn't make it, etc, but it was still really fun with a good turn out. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported Renny Sanz. It was much appreciated. And the fish sandwiches and mac & cheese were bangin'.



In other news, I started a new job last night. I had no idea I was gonna start right away, but it's all good. Make that paper!

And tell me these Supra Skytops don't go hard.

I'm about to take Peanut out for a walk, as soon as he stops yipping like a lil punk. Puppy training is serious business man.

Aside from that, I'm excited about hitting up BK Pride tomorrow. Should be fun. Hopefully the weather holds up. Many apologies to fans in Newark, that performance is canceled indefinitely, but definitely have fun out there.

Big ups to Boston and every other city and town having their pride fests this weekend. It's our time yall.

I also wanna say thanks to Cali (SoCal and the Bay especially) for the love. I think my soul is somewhere in San Francisco, if not DR ;)

Last Quarter: Notes from a Recessionista is done. Woo hoo. I was gonna wait until later in the summer, but why not put it out now? If you see me and the street team downtown, in the city, or in the boroughs during pride, don't be a stranger. $5 gets you your own copy. Speaking of the coming weeks, PRIDE season is upon us. And Renny Sanz will be out and about. Nothing like some bermuda shorts and a tank top to set the summer in motion. Rain Rain Go AWAY, I wanna walk my puppy today :-\

Today was an okay day I guess. It's been raining for like 3 days straight so I haven't been able to walk Peanut. He's been cooped up lately and definitely wants to get out. I've been feeling the same way lately. It probably has to do with it going from being 88 degrees a week and a half ago to this.

The block was HOT man. Everybody outside. People driving with the windows down. It was a cool vibe. Now, boooo.

Ah well, we're only a couple weeks away from the summer sun.

Girls in Pretty Dresses: An Introduction

I find that today I'm thinking about Easters past. You know, big fluffy pink or baby blue desses. White patent leather shoes. Easter egg hunts. I remember being about 8 or 9 and playing in the church's backyard (a dirt filled lot with like 3 patches of grass) with 2 other girls and a bunch of boys.

We called ourselves looking for more candy-filled Easter eggs, saying that we saw Sister Jackie stash a few in the shed. Lies. That was one of my first experiences exploring in "the shed".

Yes, Easter has a spiritual significance to me. But the Easter season itself (spring) is when I get in the mood to "explore in the shed."

Stuff like that makes me write songs like What to Do With It. Just the fun days of my youth. Isn't that what hip hop is all about?

It was a lil chilly for the first weekend of spring. But I still managed to get to the new Ikea in Brooklyn and cook dinner tonight.

Sleepy now though, so this will be short.

I started working on a new song last night. It's gonna be fiyah. That's all I can so for now.

Yeah Buddy!

It looks like I've finally grown the balls to officially start my music career. I'm excited about this. Actually, I've been doing music in one way or another since I got a keyboard for my birthday as a kid. Instruments, bands, poetry, and the rest is history. I don't wanna bore you.
