Brand New Music: Reign

I hope you're enjoying your day so far. I just want to take a moment to thank you for taking part in my art. Sometimes, we can get so caught up in the business side of things that we forget about the process.

My newest single "Reign" is exactly that...the product of a process. This piece for me represents owning the space you occupy...starting with your heart and mind and the rest of your space as well.

At just over 3 minutes, "Reign" is an invitation, an introduction, and a re-affirmation.

And to answer the question it begs, "I'm all in!"

2015: Back to the Future

Greetings! Today is a beautiful spring day. I’m enjoying it from the confines of a library, but I can see from the window that the sun is coming back out.

Speaking of coming back out, I’m currently working on some new Renny Sanz music and content for your listening and viewing pleasure. We’re about halfway through the process of finishing the next project. The release date is early this summer.

I can’t wait for you to hear what’s coming soon!

In the meantime, our team has handpicked some cuts for you to enjoy. The newest track on Sound Cloud is an in-studio exclusive and my crack at the regional hit Beamer, Benz or Bentley. You can also see me performing this politically-charged call-to-action only steps away from Capitol Hill.

Thanks to all of you who continue to rock with me. I really appreciate it. Connect with me on Instagram: @RennySanzOfficial.

Peace and love,

Renny

It's Our Time

I know I'm not the only young queer that has felt the pain that the world puts on us. And I know that our music with not only resonate with our own LGBT folks, it will be felt by the masses.

Any art that comes from a real place is "palatable". Nevermind these major labels. Music doesn't belong to the labels. It belongs to the people.

Make it a habit to support artists that serve a higher purpose. Female mcs, underground djs, community theater, minority businesses, and non-profit orgs are all groups that need support from the people they work tirelessly to accurately and passionately represent.

Try everyday to listen to a new hip hop artist or new electro artist. Let your ipod be as diverse and unique as you are.

Tribute to my brother in spirit, David Kato

Just heard my brotha in Uganda got bludgeoned to death
Got a father from Nigeria who's supposed to love me to death
Living as a queer in fear got me thinking about death
Imagine if they came upstairs and I was found dead

Whether I pump myself with lead or stay confined to my bed
I'm dying, I'm tired of living, so depressed
To kill those who speak on behalf of the oppressed
Is like killing one of God's angels, a saint's been laid to rest

I'm nowhere near perfect, but my spirit lives inside
Same body, same flesh...we all bleed, we all die
But there are some among us, so conflicted inside
Homophobia eats away at you, then you want me to cry

To cry cuz I love her in spite of my mother
To lie about boyfriends--undercover coworker
To smile in the face of such an oppressive system
To talk to my mother about my lover, even though she won't listen

A down low sista, too short to be a mister
In East Africa, I'd be killed as your mother or your sister

And all this because we can't accept our differences

There are kids who have to witness this
Priests who will not mention it;
Pride parades of people who will stand up
And not just sit with this

That international outcry has to start at home
It could be me, you, or someone you don't even know
This person may not have one good place to go
But if you lead them in the right direction, they just might find their way home

To all the LGBTQ kids who found freedom by leaving
Whose parents and family call them nothing but "heathen"
Who go to bed sometimes without even eating
Keep your head up, you will not be defeated.
